Ken was drafted in the sixth round by the Seattle Mariners in June of 1993 out of McDonogh School. Ken logged 1,091 innings professionally from 1994-2004 with the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Devil Rays organizations. Ken reached the Major Leagues with the Seattle Mariners from 1997-1999 where he played under legendary manager Lou Piniella. He won 16 games over 278 innings at the Major League level.
