Ryan Rivers

Ryan was a member of two state championship baseball teams and one second place team during his time at Eastern Technical High School. Upon high school graduation in 2007, Ryan was recruited to play NCAA Division I baseball at UNC Charlotte. At UNC Charlotte, Ryan was a starting and closing pitcher, designated hitter and first baseman. During his time at Charlotte, Ryan hit 31 homeruns for the Niners. In addition to getting it done on the field he was a standout in the classroom where he was an ESPN first team Academic All-American finalist in 2009. After his junior year at Charlotte, he was selected as a first baseman in the in the 2010 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Ryan left school to play professionally in the Angels Minor League system. After two professional seasons of baseball Ryan returned to UNC Charlotte to finish his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ryan currently is working as a Mechanical Engineer at Emergent BioSolutions and is also pursuing a master’s degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
